No. Any estate sale company that tells you they can sell everything, I assure you they can't and they won't. Our Company, Southwest Estate Sales, LLC in Arizona, has a sell-through of 90-95%. We work hard on our Advertising Campaign which brings in a ton of people. Most Estate Sales (Tag Sales) in Arizona place all items at full price the first day. By the second day there is a 30% reduction and on the last day 50%. We found too many customers were
waiting until the last day on furniture for obvious reasons that they would get a phenomenal deal at 50% off. Most clients really don't care where their furniture was goes so long as it was out of the home. Most of our clients are downsizing and have sold their home. They have a closing date and as you know, it has to be cleared out. I kept thinking...how can I get more for my client and have a longer selling cycle. So, I began asking all our clients if I could place their items in my storage and I would use our resources as a means to sell off each of their pieces that didn't sell. It worked out beautiful! But, our storage space has grown from one big 10 x 20 unit to 7 huge air-conditioned unit. It continues to grow and sell fast! My clients, who were willing to donate it all to Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.. now get an unexpected check HAND-DELIVERED. I get fabulous word-of-mouth AND referrals which means the world to mean!!!
Listen, I have a heart and I can appreciate that your furniture is years of memories and at times, selling and getting rid of your furniture an be emotional. My goal is to give my client the most successful sale possible and make them happy they chose our company.
So, if you have a few pieces of furniture leftover, ask the estate sale company if they would bring your pieces to the nearest or reputable consignment shop. Remember, they will ask you to send them pictures of the items you want to consign. They will be picky and may not take some or all the furniture. Don't take offense to that. There are items that just don't sell. And, with how quickly space fills up, we have to be picky.
